Valentines Day and Candy Hearts

Valentines So many thing you can do with candy hearts . Estimate , graph,stack and chart and of course eat . which is the best .. It is so important to write with children so they can see print . I love when we can bring math , language , fine motor into a party . We had a red/pink lunch today pink eggs , red apple sauce , apples and heart bread . I made heart red ice cubes for there milk . We also finished party with valentines bracelets and necklaces . Today we did love bug math . Also we have a tray of this game out so they can come back and do it again . Also made our treat bags for tomorrow party !

Post office Sending love letters

OK not love letters but card ,picture and letter to each other . I set up mail box (i bought at target last year after valentines day for 1.00 and there envelopes , cards (cheap valentine cards after valentines day or dollar store ones , sticker and papers . I add new stuff each day to make it more exciting . Only rule is you can only make one a day for same person . Other wise lets say miss Jessica would have 100 lol .We empty and hand out mail each morning at calendar . Great taking turns reading the names on the letters . yesterday someone asked for stamps so i think today we ad stamps !

Valentines lunch !

now there are endless ideas of lunch . red foods heart shape . In pass we have made home made heart shape pizza and for B-fast we have had pancakes , strawberry and whip cream. But today was simple cereal and strew berry for b-fast and lunch i got out my handy heart cutters and make heart shape ham sanwichs (ham is red right ) , strawberry and apples and some fun crazy heart straws with our milk .

Update on Valentines party

A little look into our Valentiens party

Well as our party is not until tomorrow i wanted to share what we Will be doing . Just in case you need another simply idea .
We will make Valentines crowns to wear for the day and necklaces . The head bands or crown is to simply strips tape or glue together .(tape works better then staples or glue as it stay better ) Then they glue on hearts and sticker (i don't have sticker on the example ). Then i tape it to the head size . (again tape is stronger )
Then they will make necklaces to match . I cut yarn and tape the ends to make a nice easy thread . Then i cut straws to add in between each heart . I cut out heart and just hole punched a hole. I Tie when they are finished .

I also have tata if they like one for their hands and we will do Valentines play dough and they all get some to take home .

I have a set of hearts i hide number 1-20 . once they are all found we will come back together and count them to see if we have them all . Adding them in order 1-20.

Another fun thing we are going to do is read a book called "A book of Kisses" by Scholastic and i have big white hearts cut and they are all going to put some lip Gloss on and kiss the heart . Some reason they love the results .. it like magic to a preschooler . Qtips and lip gloss to apply . When dry i will write something like A goodnight kiss .. ops see in my example it not one word.

We will then do candy math , sorting , counting ,adding ,subtraction, pattern and graphing . We all start with 10 candy hearts in front of us . We will add first 1+1= and so on 2+1= . We will then do subtraction the same way 10-1= 9-1 until 0 again then we will pattern our hearts . which i got at kidssoup.com then we will graph our candy hearts and see who has the most pink , green ect. Also got at graph sheet at kidssoup.com but if you look around many free ones to print or make your own .

Then final if they like they may eat them . I one of my favorite way to teach math candy . Candy hearts , candy corn kiss , m&m's yummy !

Here the poem i printed in red and put on the back . I cut them in a circle sort of and add ribbon for hanging with their name and date on back .

We read Clifford's first Valentines this week i think on Monday . So am going to read it again and we going to make a Heart Clifford . Our cliffords done look like him but they are proud of them . and they did it all them selfs !

there is many out there for you to use . i made my on paper plates a little stronger and and easy to cut into a heart or circle's ? have not decide how am finishing it yet but love ribbon so for sure make a hanger .

Then last thing we started to do today was shaving cream hearts

i don't measure just mix and we painted with Q-tips . they dry shinny !
